Week 11 Class Work
For the week eleven, the whole class conducted an extremely exciting activity related to geography. Now in my previous reflection post, I mentioned that I was taken back to my high school days when my class did the only exciting activity in a world geography class, and the word exciting is used very loosely. Personally speaking, I am not the best at geography in general, so I completely agree with the reading. Our investigation was a Campus Geographic Investigation, where the whole class was able to walk around the University of Houston campus and see and ask ourselves: "What do you consider to be the most important places on campus?"
With this campus investigation, there was of course more work that came along with it. We were to visit four locations at the University of Houston of our choice but we had to really pay attention to what we seen, heard, and smelled in each location. Once we arrived back to our class, we had to put our findings on paper to discuss them. On a piece of, we had to split it into four sections. On the first section, we had to draw a sketch of first place you investigated. On the second section, we had to describe what you saw or heard at the second site. On the third section, we had to write down what you saw at the third place and then describe how it was created whether it was by nature or made by people. On the fourth section, we had to write down what you saw at the fourth place and then how it is used and by whom.
As a class whole, we discussed our findings and it was pretty neat that we were able to see and hear about some places we might have not thought about or seen or heard about. It really put things into perspective even in our own campus.
